5 -day gorilla safari & Lake Mburo National Park covers special experiences such as gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and game viewing in Lake Mburo National Park. Bwindi lies in the far Southwestern Uganda, established in 1991 and protects a significant population of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas, about 459 of them. They can be visited in any of its 4 sectors: Nkuringo, Ruhija, Buhoma and Rushaga.

Lake Mburo National Park is located just 4-5 hours’ drive away from the heart of Kampala. This compact jewel boasts of its diverse wildlife including zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, buffaloes, 350 bird species etc and comes with an exceptional landscape.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali & transfer to Bwindi

Delicious breakfast provided to you at the luxurious lodge in Kigali, after, meet our driver guide fully prepared for transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your short luxury Uganda tour includes border crossing from Rwanda to Uganda via Katuna or Chanika border. This road trip takes 4-5 hours, and briefly, you will tour Kigali city before heading off to Bwindi.

Kigali is officially the capital city of Rwanda, also listed among the cleanest and safest cities in the world. A tour in Kigali includes visit to Kigali/Gisozi memorial, craft shops, local market especially Kirimonko market.

Day 2: Gorilla trek & Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda

Start your morning adventure to see mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uganda. At Bwindi, gorilla trekking is done from any of its 4 regions- Buhoma, Rushaga, Nkuringo and Ruhija. Each of these comprise of fully habituated gorilla families including Katwe, Mukiza, Mubare, Habinyanja, Mucunguzi, Bushaho, etc.

Early morning during briefing about gorilla trekking rules, an experienced park ranger guide will be allocated to you to lead you through the 2-6 hours in the dense Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to see mountain gorillas. Only one hour is what is allowed for you to have a close encounter with these endangered species, then you get back to the lodge. From your lodge, exit for Lake Bunyonyi for evening relaxation at the cool shores of the Lake while enjoying uninterrupted view of its 29 islands.

Day 3: Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda

A heavy breakfast early, after, leave Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo National Park, a savanna park in Western Uganda. This is an ideal spot for game viewing, and it is perfect for those of you who would like to see zebras, antelopes, giraffes, lion, leopards, buffaloes and variety of birds. Have a relaxed evening, and overnight stay at the luxurious accommodation facility.

Day 4: Game drives + Night game drive, Lake Mburo N/P

After breakfast, leave the comfortable lodge for wilderness experience involving a guided game drive through the sweeping savannas of Lake Mburo National Park. The park is rich in savanna species, and a 2-3 hours game drive gets you exposed to variety of wildlife. The expected animal sights at Lake Mburo N/P include countless impalas, giraffes, oribis, buffaloes, zebras, topis, giant elands, Defassa waterbucks, bush bucks, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs and more, birds.

A night game drive will be conducted along Lake Mburo, and this will have you exposed to nocturnal species. The must-see nocturnal species at Lake Mburo National Park include mongoose, spotted hyenas, leopards, nightjars etc.

Day 5: Return to Kigali/Kampala, Uganda/Rwanda

Begin a return journey to Kigali or Kampala, and this will be after you have had a hefty breakfast. A 4-5 hours’ drive to Kampala includes a stopover at Equator crossing, and then get dropped off at a hotel or airport for departure.
