The 5 -day Queen Elizabeth & Kibale National Park combines rain-forest and savanna adventures in a single bagwiji safari holiday. The beauty about this safari is that you have lifetime opportunity to meet the endangered chimpanzees in the wild NOT at the Zoo and encounter 4 of the big 5 game members in a single habitat.

The key safari destinations to be visited include Kibale National Park for chimpanzee tracking – over 1500 chimpanzees all survive within the lush Kibale Forest. Together, there are 13 primate species including L’hoest monkeys, colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons, mangabeys, red colobus monkeys, pottos, etc.

At Queen Elizabeth National Park, the main highlights of your holiday include guided game drive to see the big game plus lots of antelopes, birds; boat cruise on 40kms Kazinga Channel with a chance to sight basking crocodiles, hippos, etc.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda & Travel to Kibale

Pick up early by your driver guide in Uganda, who will also brief you about your 5 days Queen Elizabeth & Kibale National Park safari. Begin your Kibale National Park journey, 6 hours’ through Mityana-Mubende to Fort Portal where lunch break will be had. As you connect to Kibale -the primate capital of the world, a scenic view of Crater Lakes, Rwenzori Mountains at the background, homesteads, tea plantations will make your ride a memorable one.

Travel time: 6 hours

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking & Bigodi walk

With your bottled drinking water and fully dressed in environmentally friendly attire, assemble at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules. The park guide will also be assigned to you and your group will comprise of 6 visitors. At 8:00am, you should be off from Kanyanchu for actual adventure in Kibale Forest taking 2-4 hours but inclusive of a special one hour for magical encounter.

Retreat from chimpanzee watching and enjoy lunch at the respective accommodation facilities. At 2:00pm, your driver guide will transfer you to Bigodi wetland, located about 4kms from Kibale and an afternoon nature walk will be carried out here.

Day 3: Kibale- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a hefty breakfast, after your next destination will be Queen Elizabeth National Park, located about 3-4 hours’ drive. From Kibale, cross to Fort Portal and connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, be part of unforgettable guided game drive along Kasenyi Plains and look out for lots of mammals such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, plus birds. Driving time via Kasenyi takes 2-3 hours and you drive back to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and a night stay.

Travel time: 3-4 hours

Day 4: Lion trekking & boat cruise

Before the sun rises, set off for early lion trekking experience via Kasenyi plains, the Northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You have a good time observing lions, their behaviors, how they socialize, feeding habits and taking pictures. You will be accompanied by researchers, conservationists etc. Retreat from lion trekking, enjoy lunch and have the best of boat cruise on Kazinga channel for 2-3 hours. It will come with remarkable exposure to hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds and more.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Park-Kampala/Kigali
